Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) Financing

The Santa Cruz City Council has taken several actions that allow residents of the City to have access to a wide variety of energy and water efficiency and renewable energy products for installation in residential or commercial properties.  

The City of Santa Cruz has become a member of a number of Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) programs, that provide new financing options for home and commercial property owners who wish to increase the efficiency of their homes or add additional environmental assess including solar panels, electric vehicle charging systems and water conservation infrastructure.  Each program:

• Provides financing to install pre-qualified products that have been proven to deliver measurable energy or water savings, provide project cost estimates, and install the products.
• Links repayments of these loans to property tax bills, limiting the property owners added financial obligations.  Many home owners that have sold their properties have passed along the PACE financing to the next owner who benefits from the property upgrades.
