Mission:
The purpose of the Committee is to serve as a communication channel between City employees, the community, the City Manager, the City Council and the Equal Employment Opportunity Coordinator on equal opportunity concerns. The Committee reviews the annual reports from Department Heads regarding the activities of their respective departments over the past year and prepares its own annual report which is presented to the City Council. The Committee identifies concerns relating to equal employment opportunities, develops programs which further equal employment opportunities, and makes recommendations to the City Council and the City Manager about equal employment opportunity grievances.

Meetings:
Meetings: The Equal Employment Opportunity Committee meets quarterly, on the second Thursday of February, May, September and November, at 1:30 p.m., in the City Council Chamber.

Membership:
The Committee shall consist of 9 members who are appointed as follows: two members of the public (City residents) appointed by the City Council; one department director appointed by the City Manager, the selection of which will be rotated among department directors each new term; three employee representatives appointed by the City Manager; one representative from the service employees bargaining unit; one representative from each of two recognized employee organizations (excluding the service bargaining unit) appointed by the organizations, where one employee organization is management and the other is a non-management organization. The determination of which two employee organizations will appoint a member shall be made initially by draw and then rotated among the organizations each new term.
