Pay by Phone or Smartphone App is now available in the City of Santa Cruz!
Residents and visitors to the City of Santa Cruz now have a new, mobile payment option when parking at the City’s street meters and pay-by-space lots. On January 25, the City deployed an innovative pay-by-phone and Smartphone application program that allows customers to pay for and tailor their parking session directly from their mobile phones, from any location.
The new parking payment program offers parking customers a state-of-the-art method to pay for parking:
Customers can bypass inserting change into meters and call a toll-free number or access the Parkmobile Smartphone application to start and end their parking session.
After a quick enrollment, all parking charges will be applied to the user’s secure credit card on file.
Parking charges will be precise to the nickel.
A $.35 transaction fee is added to each parking session.
The Smartphone application allows customers to receive text message reminders.
Each of the City’s 1,800 parking meters now bears a green sticker with instructions to pay by phone or Smartphone application; pay-by-space lots have similar signage. The City’s parking enforcement officers are equipped with Smartphones that receive up-to-date information about the payment status of each vehicle that uses the Parkmobile service.
The Pay by Phone parking system can be used for on-street and off-street parking. Instead of looking for the correct change or having to estimate the time you need, you can instantly start and stop your parking transaction using your registered mobile phone.
You can register for a Parkmobile account by calling the dedicated number posted on parking meters, street signage or via the Internet. After setting up your account, you can start using the system with your registered mobile phone immediately.
