Vehicle Fire with Fatality - 11-8-13

Describe the Event:

At 1603 hours, Santa Cruz Fire Department responded to a report of a vehicle fire.  The first arriving engine found a cab over style camper parked on the side of the road with smoke coming from the rear door and windows. The crew opened the door and found the interior of the camper on fire. They were able to extinguish the fire quickly with a hose line and two firefighters began a search of the interior of the camper.  They located an unconscious female and removed her from the vehicle.  The female patient was examined and pronounced dead at the scene.  No other fire victims were located and no firefighters were injured.  Fire investigators from Santa Cruz Fire Department and Cal Fire are working with the Santa Cruz Police Department to determine the cause of the fire.  The investigation in on going.
