Describe the Event: 

At 2:55 A.M. Santa Cruz Fire was dispatched to a storage complex at 210 Benito for heavy smoke coming from the roof and vents. Upon the arrival of the first in fire unit, they found heavy smoke and fire coming from the second story of a storage complex. There were 5 two story building with 24 units in each building. The fire was found to be coming from a middle building on the second story. Crews pulled hose lines to the second story and found flames engulfing the entire hallway and several units. Crews were able to knock down the fire and make entry to complete the extinguishment. The roof was opened up to relieve smoke and heat throughout the upper floor. There was minor extension to a first floor unit as fire had burned through the floor. Extensive damage was found throughout the second story due to heat and smoke damage. No injuries were reported. The investigation revealed an accidental fire from discarded smoking material that started in a unit at the end of the hallway. Damage to the structure is estimated at $75,000 and to the contents unknown due to unknown contents.
