This year’s week-long movement celebration is all about community participation, taking over downtown Santa Cruz with highly anticipated pop-up performances on the streets and in “unlikely places.”
That first National Dance Week celebration took place in 1994 at Louden Nelson Community Center where dancers took the stage for 15-minute increments in a heady succession of dance styles. Workshops were held in adjacent rooms. It was a one-site event. Decades later, this much anticipated event brings thousands to the streets to watch the dancers bring magic to the event!
