The public is invited to the City of Santa Cruz Water Department’s last “Loch Walk” of the season at the Loch Lomond Recreation Area. The focus for the October Loch Walk is fall birding. The birding Loch Walk takes place in the Loch Lomond Recreation Area on Saturday, October 27 from 11:00am – 1:00pm. The park entrance fee is waived for walk participants.
Loch Lomond sits on the Pacific Flyway, which is like a highway in the sky for birds. During October’s Loch Walk participants will visit different habitats at Loch Lomond in search of a variety of species of migratory birds.
Park entrance is free to Loch Walk participants. Walkers should wear comfortable shoes they can hike in and are encouraged to bring binoculars if available. For more information please call (831) 335-7424. Loch Lomond Recreation Area is now closed through March 2019.
The Loch Lomond Recreation Area is a 180 acre reservoir and part of the 2,800 acre watershed land holdings that the City of Santa Cruz Water Department manages in the Newell Creek watershed. It is open daily from late March through mid-October, when the park closes for the season.
