The City of Santa Cruz Parks and Recreation Department is excited to announce the reopening of Garfield Park, which has been closed for renovations. The reopening ceremony is scheduled to take place on Friday, May 5, from 6:00-7:00 pm.
The renovation project was funded by a grant from the State of California’s Prop 68 2018 Parks and Water Bond. The revitalized park will feature exciting new amenities for visitors, including playgrounds for younger and older children with innovative climbing features, benches, picnic tables, and other site furnishings, a new outdoor game area with corn hole, foosball, and tether ball, refurbished pathways, and water-efficient plantings.
“We are delighted to announce that Garfield Park will soon be open to the public once again. The community gave us great feedback on what they wanted to see in a renovated park and playground, and we think we have delivered. Come check it out and let us know!” said Travis Beck, Superintendent of Parks.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony will mark the ceremonial opening of the park, and attendees will have the first access to all the new amenities. Join the Parks and Recreation team to celebrate the reopening of Garfield Park!
