Santa Cruz Begins Storm Damage Repairs at South End of the Santa Cruz Wharf
SANTA CRUZ, CA | The City of Santa Cruz Parks and Recreation Department and Power Engineering Construction Company has begun repair work at the south end of the Santa Cruz Wharf. Substantial completion of the work is anticipated by March 2025.
The south end of the Wharf has been closed since powerful storms in December 2023 and February 2024 caused significant structural damage, including the destruction of critical support piles. To ensure public safety, the City closed the affected area and is now moving forward with a comprehensive repair and reinforcement project.
The project consists of the following major elements:
- Demolition of the Dolphin Restaurant and its associated enclosed patio.
- Removal and disposal of damaged piles.
- Installation/replacement of damaged or missing piles.
- Installation/replacement of associated structural members, mechanical connectors, and decking.
These efforts will not only address the existing damage but also enhance the structural integrity of the Wharf.
