About the Board
Together, the Board interprets technical decisions of the building official and/or the fire marshall. The duties and procedures of the Board are given in chapter 18.41 of the Municipal Code.Membership
The Board consists of five regular members and three alternates. Members are appointed by the City Council.The five regular members must be any of the following: architect, engineer (civil, structural, mechanical, or electrical), general building contractor, engineering contractor, electrician, plumber, mechanical or sheet metal contractor, non jurisdictional building inspector or fire inspector or similar person demonstrating experience (as an alternate). Alternates are two disabled access specialist and one energy conservation specialist.
