Most of Santa Cruz’s water meters have outlived their useful life and are the #1 cause for complaints from our customers. To provide customers with tools to better manage their water use and to help prevent water waste due to unknown leaks, the Water Department is doing a system-wide replacement of water meters that are 3 years old and older. The new meters will allow customers to track their water use goals and control costs, as well as alert them if they have a leak or unusual water use.
