The Water Production Section operates and maintains water storage, diversion, collection, pumping, and treatment facilities from all sources throughout the system. Our system includes the Graham Hill Water Treatment Plant, which can process up to 16 million gallons of water per day and is the only conventional water treatment plant on the Monterey Bay.
Year-round average production is 10 million gallons per day, but summer daily production can be as high as 15 million gallons per day. At capacity, we can store 19 million gallons of water in our reservoir system. In order to deliver the water to storage and to our customers, we operate and maintain pumping systems requiring a total of 4500 horsepower. Our staff of 21 includes 11 State Department of Health Certified Water Treatment Plant Operators.
